What this market video covers
A volatility percentage point is different from a one percent relative change. In a hypothetical option, implied volatility moves from twenty percent to twenty one percent. That is one percentage point, but a five percent relative increase in the volatility number. Suppose quoted vega is ten cents per share for each volatility percentage point. Holding other inputs fixed, the first order option value change is approximately ten cents per share. For a standard one hundred share contract, that is about ten dollars. Do not multiply by five simply because the relative volatility change was five percent. Confirm how the platform quotes vega and the actual contract multiplier. Vega itself changes, and stock price, time and other inputs can move together. This is a local sensitivity example, not a guaranteed trade profit. Clearly labeled hypothetical worked example; figures are illustrative, not current company results. Educational content, not personalized investment advice.
